One week down 2 to go

Dear Family and Friends
This is another crazy week and moment in the life of a missionary when you have less weeks than your companion has months even less days (sort of) than your companion has months. However time does not determine effectiveness nor love of the work of the Lord. So I will inform you of our crazy semi productive week.
Monday we got hair cuts as I mention So needed my hair was gross, now it is fantastic and awesome and it will be that way for when I come home. Well we did our lazy and somewhat normal preparation day activities we got things clean though! that was nice we then did shopping and  went to see people, all of our plans like to fall apart and that was sad so we went and made some Flyers for our English class and copied them so that was good, the rain has destroyed a couple few.
Tuesday we had some good stuff planned. We had exchanges and I was in GI with Elder Jones and Elder Porter was in Hastings with Elder Howell and Elder Madsen. They had fun they got lots of lighting and tornado warnings but nothing beyond be alert. We however got nothing, absolutely nothing in Grand Island. We had a good day of work trying people and contacting referrals. We got two other Lessons one just outside with some teenage boys they were fairly receptive and that was cool. The next was with our investigators Rogelio and Anna they are awesome we haven't had much time to teach them but they have been reading from the book of Mormon! That was amazing and we then went out to Saint Libory to plan our lesson with Brother Leal for Thursday with Eugenia and Pepe and that was good. He has a lot of crazy stories.
Wednesday we switched back and it was good we went and jumped straight into teaching or trying too. People flaked out on us and it was super sad. but we did service at the multicultural Coalition mainly just sitting there. They don't have to much for us to do, we are hoping to get to talk to Steve, our boss more about his travels in Africa, he apparently has spent more time out of the U.S. than in it which is crazy. we then swung by Eugenia and Pepe's house and they were doing good we had a quick 15 minute lesson with them and reminded them of our appointment on Thursday. We then went to our English Classes and we had two people who I think will be consistent in coming because most people want to learn English and find it useful to learn it even though it is hard. though there are many who are content with just knowing Spanish.  that was the extent of our Wednesday adventures.
Thursday we got two lessons almost a week record we taught Eugenia, Pepe had to go help a friend fix an air conditioner and so we taught her with brother Leal. It was a good lesson She really is starting to get the Gospel. Then we saw Rossy she is one of the sweetest ladies and we also met her husband and he is a really cool guy he is from El Salvador and she is from Mexico and they are both super sweet they have amazing hearts and we taught them a bit about our responsibilities as God's Children it was awesome!
Friday we just saw the Xec family and that was great they are struggling Brother Xec is still in Guatemala with immigration papers and she is here as a single mom so it is hard for her the kids are great but not the most helpful bunch. then we did service again at the Multicultural coalition and it was the same as last time not much to do. we also did our weekly planning
Saturday we did service at the Grand and it was fun (The GRAND Theater). We run concessions and clean up duty afterwards and so that was very amusing to see all the different people there I really liked it we got to talk to the bosses who run the theater since it is actually owned by a board of directors of local store owners not a company or single family franchise. I we also just talked to the other missionaries since we had to be on duty during the movie. we then had a lesson with an investigator then we ran over to a ward party that we were invited to since both the English wards use us as extra man power and so that was fun we got food and watched the other wards members interact with the the sisters. Sister Hall injured her foot so all the girls were wanting to be her helper it was kind of cute and funny, us as Elders we were relegated to a corner.
Sunday we went to the GI 2nd ward and listened to President and Sister Gardner speak as well as hear Sister Hall Sing in sacrament it was a great meeting very reverent and very orderly we planned our day for seven lessons and then we only got two it was sad and sacrament had very poor attendance which made things sad too. but it was a good week

Zone Conference, Exchanges, and the Get Trunky Quick Plan

May 23, 2016

Dear Family and Friends,
This is another one of our exciting weeks here in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. We just completed our Zone Conferences in the areas not in Omaha, It was a really good week and so here is your report day by day
Monday we did our Usual Preparation Day relaxing and Visiting with the Other Elders nothing too crazy or exciting and we had some good times and took care of business such as cleaning then we had a member Dinner and FHE (Family Home Evening) our message was a quick scripture because me mainly helped her and her family get the computer figured out because it had some issues and we showed her how to download the Gospel Library app and get to it and that was good, then we went and found one of our investigators home and taught him from the plan of salvation how we are children of our Heavenly Father and how we lived with him before this life in Heaven as his spirit sons and Daughters and his Sister showed a bit of interest and we set  return appointment
Tuesday was our Zone Conference I got to see some of my missionary friends before I go home. The Lincoln North and South Zones came to Grand Island and the rest of the Kearney Zone was here in GI as well so there was I think 73 or so missionaries it was cool. We talked a lot about how to be more effective in working with our members and being worthy Conduits for the Holy Ghost and then sister Gardner gave a great training on the Lies of the Devil the things that he throws at us to distract us, and she said we need to say when he sends those to call him out and remind him that he is being a Lying Liar Lieface! so that was funny I had never thought I would see sister Gardner say that, but she did and she got it from Arthur! that is what made it cool we sadly didn't get to watch the clip but that was okay. Well we also had the Housing people from the mission office install a carbon Monoxide/smoke detector combo in our apartment and it was funny they liked our little room but they did think it was kind of crazy that it was so small but it was nice they wanted to steal our book shelves but they were the Abshers so Ha ha ha we won Member Housing is sweet! then we went and saw an investigator and he had started reading in 3 Nephi 11 like we had committed him too and it was sweet because he had a question about why the people didn't understand the voice when they heard it the first time and then we taught about how the Holy Ghost works and how often times we don't listen but we still fill his influence and then we slowly realize that God is trying to get a hold of us. Like when you get a phone call and the phone is on vibrate but you're walking so you don't feel it until you sit down and have that quiet moment you realize someone is trying to call you but you were just to busy and preoccupied to listen because you thought what you were doing was more important etc... and it was a sweet lesson!
Wednesday We drove to North Platte to have exchanges with the Zone Leaders we just did work in their area we saw some nice people, I don't remember every bodies names but it was good it is just a smaller version of Grand Island so that is fun I guess.
Thursday we came back had lunch with a member and that was good we are going to be helping her pick out some toys for her grand kids next time she takes us out to lunch because they are little boys and so we were like okay whatever you say but that will be fun I guess. We saw one of our returning members she was doing very well she is a super sweet lady, we had a fun conversation with her and invited her again to church so hopefully she will get back in the habit of coming she needs the blessings of God, we all do, but her husband is in and out of the hospital with a heart condition so we are going to have to go see her and visit with him too to see what we can do to help. We then went to see an investigator Eugenia and Pepe they are such cool Cubans I don't know why but they are so sweet, It think it is because they have had such difficult things they have had to rely a lot on God. we had a good lesson about the Book of Mormon because she has been doing good at reading!
Friday weekly planning it was good but not the best like usual but it was very effective and that is what makes things happy! we also had a great lunch appointment with the Rubio's where we introduced the new pamphlets to them yes we have new pamphlets so call your missionaries and get them to give you a copy and then you can introduce it to people because it answers lots of cool questions! We then did some service at the Multicultural Coalition translating a thing or two for them and then we just talked and that was good we then went to a lesson with a Less active named Angel he is so cool he is coming back to church and we are going to have him help us with an investigator or two and then we saw Eugenia and Pepe again with Brother Leal and it was a sweet lesson, I am going to have to get some of his story written down I think it will be best shared in person but basically he was Cuban special Forces and he got hurt pretty badly but he came out okay and he also was an Olympic athlete for Judo but ya long story. but Eugenia and Pepe are starting to grasp more the need for the gospel and why the restoration. we are going to have to go visit with Brother Leal and plan out our next lesson to keep the momentum with them.
Saturday we saw our Seventh day Adventist investigator who has read the Book of Mormon 4 times and knows its true and also has read D&C and the Pearl of Great price. that went very well. He knows the book of Mormon is true but he still has hang ups on the whole Sabbath day thing and that was kind of the majority of our lesson was that doesn't matter as much and the law of Moses was fulfilled.
Sunday was great I spoke in church and I didn't find out till 12 and I didn't get time to prepare until about 1 and then I still was mainly pondering not studying, but I got complements from Eugenia and Pepe who came to church!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that I spoke very fluidly and they felt the spirit and I spoke on how the lord always fulfills his promises and the greatest promise is salvation and how God fulfilled his part of the Deal and that it is now our job to obey the commandments out of love and we will receive our rewards! so it was good I felt good about it and the other missionaries came as is our custom, to support each other and Also President Kearl came to so we talked to him and that was nice talking to him and he gave me a few compliments in front of the other missionaries but ya I did do a lot of work with President Kearl in the past. So ya it was good.
That is my week really we got some good lessons and are making progress and will hopefully be hearing of success from Grand Island in the Future!

Zone Training, Crazy, Then more crazy

May 16, 2016

Dear Family, Friends, and Furry creatures who are adorable (IE cats dogs squirrels and other R.O.U.S.)
This has been another eventful week in the lives of us missionaries here in the Nebraska Omaha Mission.  So to get to the details, and to not leave you pondering and confused here it goes
MONDAY, Monday Monday MADNESS!!! So lets see, we emailed and then went and had food, did shopping and went to try people around 6 well that didn't go so well people don't like being home or letting us in, 😢 but we decided we would do some knocking in a part of town I hadn't really been in to knock or teach people and in doing that we saw this house and I felt I should knock that house but it looked dark so I walked past and partially I got distracted talking to Elder Porter (A.D.O.S.) and then the spirit told him hey knock that house so we did and a lady named Christen answered and she was a sweet old lady and her husband is a member who is less active right now, (health issues) and she had visited with the sister missionaries and she said she knew she should get baptized but she was concerned that she didn't know how to swim and that the water would be to deep and all the sudden, we realized this sweet old lady had felt the spirit of the lord in her life she knew this was the path she needed to take but she was scared of going forward because she didn't understand the actual ordinance of Baptism and so we resolved her concern and she agreed to meet with the sisters again and the sisters are starting the lessons and I hope to hear of their success soon!
Tuesday we had some crazy stuff happen we had a normal service at the Stuhr Museum it was fun we used weed Whackers to trim some things the lawn mowers couldn't get and it was good and we just walked around whacking stuff for an hour or so then we got to answer one of the workers questions about our church and what we do as missionaries because everybody wants to know they just don't want to be pressured into stuff so we just kept it simple and it became a very spiritual conversation despite being covered in grass and smelling like lawn mower. We then went to an appointment and the lady was like I am busy and we were like well can we have five minutes we started teaching the restoration to keep our promise of a fast lesson then she made it longer and at the end it was twenty minutes but it was a super good lesson and hopefully she keeps her commitments. We then had lunch with the other Elders and went to see a less active member named Rossy, she is one of the sweetest ladies we have taught and she has a great testimony she stays here in grand island to take care of her mom with Alzheimers disease so she has a really good heart and we committed her to come to church, she is still reading and praying and doing pretty much everything you could and should do as a member but she just stopped coming to church and she wanted to come back and we told her make it a goal, God wants to help you so he will make a way for you to come and she said okay Elders I will make a goal
Wednesday That was a crazy day we went to Kearney for Zone training and it was good President Gardner came and the main focus was keeping the momentum we are not allowed to slack off and do nothing, also that we have a support group together as districts and as a Zone and that we never should let ourselves become depressed because we are all part of a family the family of God and that was a great part of the meeting we also talked about the light of Christ and the light of Christ is basically just Virtue PMG chapter 6 virtue change virtue to the light of Christ it makes so much sense. It was awesome we shared that. Then we came and had dinner/lunch at a Chinese restaurant and it was good it was a buffet and I was happy I was hungry and we didn't have a dinner appointment so it all worked out.  We then went to a house of a family who invited us back it was the bible study thing we sat through last week if I didn't mention that. Well we were going to share something at the end but they asked us to go first while they waited for some others who were going to be late so we took a smidge of time and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ and showing a little bit about it from Hebrews and how that is the foundation and if we don't understand that we can't understand anything else and we won't comprehend the scriptures. The Spirit filled the room and they had never looked at it that way and they were wowed which surprised me but  then we went on to have an hour discussion on why The Latter-day Saints even exist and it was sad because they would ask great questions and then they would refuse to let us answer them. I avoided all possible bible bashing I could I began to just teach the restoration and to bear testimony and they felt the Holy Ghost, there was not one person in the room who didn't feel it and that was the crazy part but at the end the People refused to Pray about it and we left on good terms but it was sad but super cool. I know this is Christ's True church the Holy Ghost could not have been their had I been telling lies and falsehoods it is an impossibility.
Thursday  We got three lessons it was great we saw our investigator we taught Tuesday and she was like I don't have time then she started ranting about how her husband is getting into trouble probably drugs and prostitution and we have heard this rant before and I was like okay Mrs. we can teach you, or you can vent to empty air because you are just angry and hurt and that isn't going to help you, we then testified of how the Gospel has helped us to overcome difficulties especially disappointment and sorrow and heartache and how it can do the same for her if she'll let it. And so we testified of that and we are going to read with her Alma 32 and go from there in order skipping 35 to read 36 that is our long term lesson plan it'll be great. We then saw the Xec family who is struggling to be active sister Xec's husband is out of the Country for immigration paperwork and she is basically as single mother right now and it is hard on her, but she is so strong and she has overcome so much. We later had a team up with Hermano Leal to see Eugenia and Pepe they are so sweet and with Leal we taught the plan of salvation while including the Great Apostasy and he made it so simple it was amazing basically the great apostasy is the Devil's mist of darkness to keep us from realizing who we really are as spirit Sons and Daughters of Our Heavenly Father. When they grasped that they were like oh ya and so we are ready to help them to really progress it was great we just have to set a return appointment.
Friday our day went down the drain with mowing our lawn it took longer than planned and then we tried seeing people and that just went crazy as well but we did get to see the Arviso Family With Rosa Jesus and Xavier, it was a great lesson and the kids are so funny and we hope they keep being that cute forever but sadly they'll still grow up like everybody else.
Saturday fell apart with dong an unexpected service project. Helping somebody disassemble a shed, it was weird because they bought it but don't have a place to put it. Some people's Kids then we Had a good lesson with a man named Luis, and he knows the church is true he just doesn't want to admit that he needs to get baptized again but he wants to help his friends join our church and so that is super funny
Sunday was Branch conference and apart from the stake leaders us the branch presidency we had three people in sacrament meeting it was sad but we still had good meetings hopefully we can get more people to come this next Sunday.

Transfer Week

Monday May 9, 2016

Dear Family and Friends
This week has been a bit crazy and also very good with transfers etc.. we are doing well here in GI and we are having fun so here is the official update for the week.
Monday we hung out with the other missionaries and had lunch with them we then went to a park to play Frisbee golf and it started out pretty well, I was enjoying myself then on the third hole there was a water hazard and it was fine I tossed mine across and I was shooting for a gap in the trees on the other side, and well the wind caught the Frisbee just a little bit and then the Frisbee went up and over just enough to hit a single branch and bounce back and fall into the water I scrambled around the waters edge to get it before it floated away, but luckily with they way it hit it went into the shallow water at a steep angle and sunk so I had to wade to get it and my tie got wet as I bent over to grab it but it was alright but then two other elders proceeded to follow my example. So that was sad because I was used to fetch the Frisbees. However I got par on that hole, the cool thing was there was a tree between me and the hole and I tossed the Frisbee around the tree and sunk it into the hole and it was amazing everybody was awed because the water hazard had gotten them good. Then we went home did our shopping and got cleaned up and then went back out and tried people we tried this investigator named Luis and his sister Anetsa answered so we taught her and part way through our conversation Luis pulled up with his friend and they saw us and drove away. 😢 but that was good.
Tuesday we got transfer calls and that was crazy because early we got a call from Lincoln Spanish and I was like why are they calling us and I answered and Elder Porter was like I'm going be with you Draper, so that was fun Elder Davey was super excited to leave and go to a new area so that was good he is in Norfolk Nebraska in a trio with Elder Barton and Elder Philips so that is crazy all my old companions are in the Sioux city zone and three of them are now companions! We got a couple of lessons in despite it being crazy packing day so ya we taught Eugenia and Pepe a little bit about missionary work and it was good they are surprised that we don't get paid but it hopefully will click in their brains that this is the true church.
Wednesday was transfers and that was great and sad at the same time we had to mow the lawn so that took lots of our time once Elder Porter got here since it had been raining during the week, we met this guy named Michael he was white and we got an appointment with him but we did teach a brief restoration on the street, and it was great.
Thursday we did service for the Leal's helping them move the people they bought their new house from furniture out and that was exciting and because it was more crazy than we had planned we gave the other missionaries Aloe Vera Drinks as compensation for their patience. We also saw Eugenia again and read with her a bit from the book of Mormon and then we dropped an English book of Mormon off to Michael since we didn't have one then we knocked on a former investigators door and caught them in a Bible study and we asked if we could join and being good Hispanics they let us in and it was more of a church service sermon rather than a bible study so that was sad, but they invite us back for next week for their actual bible study so we are going to share something simple and powerful and give them a run for their money I think maybe the gospel of Jesus Christ 😇
Friday we did weekly planning and saved miles since we use a lot with our service project and I got my SD card from the sisters since I gave it to them to record their Guitar skills/singing skills, they sing and play the guitar very well especially the Hymns so those were great to listen to
Saturday we got stuff ready for the video chat home. Then we taught Michael the restoration and he was like I like learning but I am going to stay Baptist and I asked him some very pointed questions about what God desires and I testified of the unity and love of God and the restoration and Elder Porter says he looked scared, like he recognized he was feeling the spirit but didn't know what it was and I could feel the spirit filling the room and I agree Michael didn't know what to do but he doesn't want to progress so we are going to leave him for a season, he didn't even consent to pray at the end of the lesson he was like okay it is time for you to go boys..... ya.........
Sunday we did the video chat and that was the week love you all.

Sincerely,
Elder Logan Joseph Draper

Baptism for Jesus

Hi North Platte, more crazy RAIN, Baptism by immersion not sprinkling!

 May 2, 2016

Dear Family and Friends,
This has been a crazy week for us in the Nebraska Omaha Mission if your names are Elder Draper and Elder Davey.
Monday we got off to a good start, we hung out with the other Elders and ate food & had a pool party (like the game no water was involved). Then we mowed the lawn and went off to teach people! We were able to see Eugenia and Pepe which was amazing! We helped them get rid of Junk mail mainly scams of, If you donate money to this charitable organization we are going to enter you into a contest to win a prize and the fine print was on the inside of the envelope so that you wouldn't read it. Then there was a scam (or at least that is what it seemed to me) from a church (I won't say which). They said write down three wishes you have and then after writing each wish say sweet Jesus then enclose $20 for each wish and your prayers will be answered! REALLY?!? I can pay to have my prayers answered? REALLY?!?? and we told Eugenia, that is a scam, Christ said thy faith hath made thee whole, and Peter and John told Simon the sorcerer that thy money perish with thee for thou has thought that the gifts of God can be bought with money and then she promptly ripped them up all the papers and tossed them in the Garbage and she declared that she would not be the victim of a scam again! We then saw the Arvizo family to help make sure that Jesus was on track for his baptismal date on Saturday
Tuesday we did our studies and then before Lunch headed out onto the road for our two-ish hour drive to North Platte to do exchanges with the Zone leaders. It was a really good experience and it has been my only real exchange this whole transfer and that was cool because it meant I got to spend more time in my Area! However we did good work and we taught a lot of people between street contacting and contacting potentials so it was fun and I enjoyed myself. And we also had a little presentation of dating tips from Elder Davey then the ZLs realized that wait Draper you need these more than we do you go home soon and I responded no I don't I have been out a little over a year.
Wednesday we had a mission wide conference call where President Gardner shared some miracles from the mission from teaching more about Christ from the Book of Mormon. It was super cool and it as great for us. Then we drove home to Grand Island we had lunch with our Branch president and his wife then later his wife came and met us with a sister who has been less active she has six kids and her husband isn't a member so that is hard when the kids are difficult in the mornings so we haven't seen her for a while. We also saw Rossy one of our other less actives and that was fantastic she is doing super well, we had only two people at our English classes which was super sad but it was raining really hard and they were probably all like ah never mind.  So I hope we can get more people to come this week. Then we saw the Arviso Family again and we solidified the baptismal date he was and is on track to make it.
Thursday was also great we had district meeting and that was fun and nothing too crazy other than forgetting the DVD of the District that I needed and rushing back home to get it but luckily we had enough miles and so we were fine then we had a lesson with Juan, which Juan ha hah ha, but it was a good lesson so in teaching him about prophets we read 2 Nephi 31 and showed how Nephi testified of Christ many hundreds of years before his coming and that Lehi did the same and we left him with 1 Nephi 10 to reinforce that so that will be awesome! And next time we will review Christ's ministry and the apostasy (Today Monday!) Then we got an appointment with a lady named Araceli who asked us to come back and she hadn't been available then we took lunch and talked with our friend Sandra at the Taco Truck and she is Golden she said, I hope my kids can grow up and be like you and do what you do, I want to see them dressed up wearing a name tag representing Jesus Christ. 😇  We then rushed off to Sutton which was a crazy drive trying to get there in time but we did it we then came back and saw a member who just ranted about how churches are built up to get gain and we then showed her how our church isn't, it was kind of funny actually
Friday was all service and the Baptismal interview of Jesus and he passed it was funny we did lots of crazy running around
Saturday we did service with the Red Cross installing smoke detectors and then we did service at the Grand Theater for their free Matinee which was good, and then we had the baptismal service of Jesus and then we went back to the Grand theater which was good there was a lot to do on the clean up end, and that was sweet we got to do stuff then we went and had dinner at a Chinese restaurant Buffet and that was good then Elder Davey and I came home and crashed then did weekly planning and that was pretty much our week just rushing to and fro never stopping for to long

Nebraska Plain

Elder Draper &
Sister Kelsey

Elder Draper is Outstanding in his Field!  Yes The Mission Field!

Advertising English

Dear Family and Friends, and other people who may be reading this IE my Cats and Dog and
         other furry friends
As the title states advertising English was a big activity and I will get to that later but for now I will start out with a brief description of the week.
Monday was a good day we emailed and then went outside and mingled with the Sister missionaries in the Library parking lot. Sister Hall was being funny and goofy and Elder Davey made it better when out of the blue he said looking at his reflection in the car window, "I look so cool!" ya it was great. Sister Kelsey and I talked about the Spanish missionaries who have been ZLs in Sioux City while she was serving there, so it was a good time to reminisce on old times and enjoy the present. We got some things taken care of at the house then we went with the other Elders and played basketball at the church and ate pizza it was a good time, I am crazy compared to most because I am athletic and fit so I just zoom around the court like The Flash or Captain America. Most of our plans fell through like normal but we did get one cool lesson with an investigator and it was cool because we got his younger brothers to join in!
Tuesday our initial morning plans fell through but we were able to go help out at the Stuhr Museum and that was sweet! We had fun and I got to run behind the Gator (a six wheeled Golf Cart for use on farms and stuff) and I was keeping up with it at one point and I felt like Captain America it was fun. Then we had our left over pizza with the English Elders and then we headed out and tried some people and we got a good visit with a less active member, she is as sweet lady and she remembers all the other missionaries from before and a few even from before me so that is amazing and cool she just got out of the habit of coming to church, she cares for her Mom with Alzheimer's and that is rough but the Gospel is helping her to understand what is going on. So we are going to be getting a team up to get her re-fellow-shipped. we were supposed to go to Sutton but that canceled which was a good thing because we got to sit down and eat dinner and it was nice. Our evening plans got crazy as usual with all the last minute cancellations we got.  It was sad but we did get a good lesson with the Arviso Family we re focusing in on Jesus with the nine year old son who is getting baptized on the 30th! So that is sweet! and hopefully he will be ready.
Wednesday we went to the library and got flyers printed, we are starting an English class!!!! It is going to be sweet we spent a couple hours putting up Flyers on 4th street where there are a lot of Hispanic stores and Restaurants. We did find a new investigator.  He was a former investigator of the other Elders, he has depression and it is severe and so he was dropped due to the fact he became sick and couldn't meet with the missionaries, but the the teaching record says if he is doing well start teaching him. And we found him again and he is doing very well.  He has gone back to work and has a cute dog super friendly and big, (a black lab about as big as Daisy). We had a long conversation and he said that he has read the Book of Mormon four times and that he has also read through the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price once and he knew that the Book of Mormon was true.  He wasn't sure what to think of D&C but that it was good and had many truths he agreed with. So that was awesome and a miracle to find a new investigator.
Thursday we had district meeting and that was good, the sisters in my district are fantastic for at least the hour and a half I see of them so ya it was good. We then went and had a lesson with Eugenia and she is being her awesome crazy Cuban self as ever and ya it was funny she is very mothering to everyone which will make Saturday great. But we go and have lunch and then we got tape to post more of our signs, so we went and got the rest of 4th street done and some other random Hispanic stores and Laundry mats so that was fun we got to talk to lots of people and most people seemed excited and happy that someone wanted to help them for free. Because everything else costs money and ya. We aren't even going to preach to these people. so ya. We did talk to one lady named Sandra who spoke English she is probably a stateside born Hispanic but she was super sweet and we talked with her about what we do as missionaries and she was very impressed by that and she was like ya I wish I could do what you do and we were like well in our church we believe that the best way to give back to God is by serving others so in our church we focus on serving and teaching others and we don't have a paid ministry and she was like okay that is cool.
Friday we decided to take lunch after studies and before weekly planning and we decided to go to our new friend Sandra's taco truck and it was sweet she made amazing tacos and then she also had amazing green salsa with a hint of pineapple it was so GOOD!!! Then we did our weekly planning, basically suffice to say we are stuck in our basement room for three hours except for bathroom breaks but it is still long! we did some good attempts to find people but we didn't have luck, because most everyone scheduled for next week. However we did have dinner with the Lagunas Family in a Restaurant called La Flor it was pretty good it is actually the same place where they didn't have bread or rice so they redeemed themselves. Then we put up some more advertisements since we were in the neighborhood.
Saturday was sweet! we did service out at one of the English bishops house Bishop Piper or Pyper quien sabe but it was good we helped him clean up his back yard and it was crazy. It used to be a farm and there was old metal tractor parts hidden around the lawn that we raked and we filled two pick up truck beds with stuff, sticks weeds grass etc.. so now he actually has one clear lawn. We again saw Eugenia and Pepe which was good Elder Davey got side tracked during a conversation and started thinking about food then when he came back to us he was super confused and Eugenia was like oh what is bothering you and he said nothing because he was fine but she was like no, what was it and he was like well I got side tracked when you said Pizzeria and she was you are hungry lets go get you food so she ran upstairs and heated up spaghetti and burritos and it was delicious and we ate well I finished but Elder Davey was like I am full and she was like you need to finish you can't be full you are a man and so she was like here I just had burritos I'll take part of your spaghetti and we will have a race to see who can finish first and well Eugenia whooped him and it was funny.  I lost it and we had a good time. Then we tried people and when that fell through we drove to Sutton and we had a good lesson with a couple who is part of the Alarcon clan (different Alarcon clan than the one in Crete) but still members at heart though less active so hopefully we can help them come back. Well we came back after that driving through the beautiful Nebraska plains the highest point was a bridge over some train tracks it was funny. We got back to GI and found a new investigator a woman with a disabled daughter named Luz or light she was so cute and funny, the Mom Sandra is going to be a good investigator.
Sunday we had some good things we saw Luis again the guy who had read the BoM four times he had questions for us mainly about Polygamy so Elder Davey answered those, Polygamy is a common practice in the Bible and is justified in the Law of Moses if God commands it to happen so it was funny to read in the Law where Moses justifies polygamy or at least God does since Moses only said what God told him too, so ya then we later saw and had dinner with the Lagunas family again but this time at their house since her boyfriend was there and we taught them the plan of salvation and we are going to review the restoration again so it was a sweet week!

Dear Family and Friends
This has been a fun week, not necessarily 100% productive but it was still good and I am excited to share some of the highlights with you. so to start out with last Monday we saw the Mahan family, from one of the English wards and they had us and the sisters and the other Elders over for dinner. Then we went over to our relief society president's house and visited with her for a FHE and then ended up teaching her son, He is your average teenager wanting immediate gratification but he is a good kid.
Tuesday we tried to see some people but that didn't work out so at about 1:00 we headed to Sutton a small town in the middle of no where it was about an Hour drive to that town. we then tried to see some people and after a while we wandered into the library to see if they had a town address book, they have that in Lincoln but not there apparently but we talked to the Librarian a super sweet lady she said she was Christian but she didn't believe the bible stories to be true or that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and she had had LDS friends while she lived in South Dakota so ya we gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited her to read it and hopefully she did and we will catch her when we go back to the town. Later we had a lesson with a part member family in the town and it was good.  We then hopped back onto the Highway and drove back to Grand Island or GI once in GI we had dinner and then saw our awesome part member family we generally see every Tuesday and we reviewed the restoration and recommitted them to read as a family Everyday from the book of Mormon so that the Jesus can get a testimony for himself.
Wednesday we taught this kid named Santiago, basically we just keep knocking this door to catch someone and then someone new answers every time last time it was Herminda this time it was Santiago. So that was funny. Then we tried teaching people and it was one of those days where nothing really works out. Well we taught a lady named Mariana a less active who has had a lot of struggles and we testified of Gods love and how she needs to forgive herself to fully repent then right after that the sister missionaries texted one of them would like a blessing and they would be willing to meet us wherever they had to so we met them at the church and we gave the sister a blessing and it was one of those things that she didn't want the ward to know and the other Elders were out of town on exchanges so it fell on us. It was a super cool and spiritual experience to participate in that. That was the end of our day basically every thing else fell through
Thursday we had a sweet district meeting and I trained first on being ourselves and developing our own talents and not competing with others. Then find when you teach and teach when you find or however it is said in PMG. So ya it was great the sisters loved my training and then we did some good role plays district meeting went a little over but it was all worth it! We felt the spirit and what more could you ask for. So we took lunch then tried to contact some referrals we had in our planners and we met a guy walking on the street said missionaries could contact him again and so we were like sweet send that to the sisters and that will be of note later. Then we taught a less active member who is just not coming to church and stuff but she is super sweet and we then had a dinner with an English member in the other ward, they used to live in Utah and so they have been here for about the same amount of time as I have so that is cool.
Then we saw our part member family again they are starting to progress and we taught the law of chastity and it went over alright.
Friday all of our plans got changed but it worked out we had interviews a little later than planned but it was all good we got to see the sisters and how the referral went and well they went back and one of the guys either our referral or his friend called the sisters Hookers so I was not happy when I heard that but God will deal with him in his own way in his own time. Leaving all Justice to God is the best way to go.  Well we then had lunch and that was good because it held me over the rest of the day. We had weekly planning then we went out and tried to teach people
Saturday we tried so hard to find people but nothing literally nothing worked out and we ended up with no lessons but we did do some good contacting and got some new potential investigators and that was awesome! One guy was like thanks for the Jesus time boys and it was funny because his so called "atheist" friend actually asked for a Book of Mormon so that is exciting and no I didn't give him the sisters number (despite it being their area) I learned my lesson. Sunday we got two lessons in which was sweet. Possibly new investigator and the Lagunas Family the Lagunas family is awesome Hermana Lagunas has a sweet testimony she has just had to work a lot since she got divorced from her husband who already had a wife in Mexico and didn't tell her till after the fact but she is doing well and they are a cool family the kids are mostly active. We also had stake conference and I had to translate one of the talks and that was difficult for me because she was talking so fast and using a lot of story telling and idioms of English not to much but I was like slow it down. but that is my week in a nut shell/

Crazy! Zone Training, More Crazy! Then Crazy Me!

April 11, 2016

Dear Family and Friends this has been a fantastic week!
I am going crazy things are just being awesome! And ya what more can I say than to you I will have say since I have not really yet said anything other than crazy, Nuf said. So starting with the Monday we bumped into a less active from another ward in Walmart and she was like I miss seeing missionaries and I prayed that I would be able to find missionaries today to talk to and we were like whoa and she was like ya I guess God was listening and we were like ya he is so, if you pray to find us you must understand the importance of who we represent and therefore will you permit the sister missionaries to come and teach you once again and she was like um no but I'll take their card so she took the Hallelujah card but she did watch general Conference 😕 go figure. Well after that we had fantastic lessons with Luis and then Eugenia Y Pepe. Well it was good Luis was seemingly (in my opinion) not to interested, he was working on a friends car when we showed up but it was a very good bold and loving restoration. the difference between bold and rude is BOLD is Being Open Lovingly Diligent while rude is just RUDE. Then we saw Eugenia Y Pepe and we first Helped them put up the picture of Jesus and the Angels and the Family proclamation I will send you all a picture of that once I get there with my camera. We had a good lesson about priesthood and the need for living prophets and apostles and it went super well it was awesome they accepted the challenge to be baptized.
Tuesday was Crazy! We started out with service at the Stuhr Museum and we hauled a cut down tree away to where we are going to chop it into fire wood for the exhibits it is a cool place but we can't go this week. We then took lunch with the other Elders and  then tried to see people and we didn't get much done during the day but we did get some cancellations and that all worked out because we got one member present in the evening with Rosa Y Xavier and we also had dinner with them which was nice and we had a sweet lesson and committed them to live the word of wisdom.
Wednesday was crazy we had zone training in Kearney and Zone Olympics. I conducted Zone training and that was good  we talked about the need to be Bold and to have Hope and faith that we can do what we have been called to do, our zone has sadly not seen any baptisms for quite some time and we are hoping to change that. The STLs (Sister training Leaders) Gave the training on staying motivated and working hard and it was good and I felt like that was going to come and it did just as I felt it would, I sensed the need for that in this area and I might mention it to my district again in our district meeting on Thursday. We then did the Zone Olympics and I didn't "qualify in anything" though I did all of the events but it was okay I am the smallest Elder in the zone like I am literally the bottom of the stack it is kind of funny and I am just barely in the Middle of the sisters so it is kind of funny too to see me in that group. We got back from Kearney late because of the Olympics thing which was annoying but it was fun we taught a good lesson to two new investigators Rogelio y Anna they are technically catholic but they don't go to church so that is sad. However they had good questions for us about what we believe we are hoping to teach them tonight actually. and after that we took dinner since we didn't take it when we got back from Kearney
Thursday was awesome, one thing they told us to do was to invite people to be baptized in the first contact so that we can weed out the wheat from the tares and focus on those who will receive us and it was funny because a rejection is a "Flo-Jo" don't ask where it came from we didn't come up with the idea so ya we didn't get one and we gave out like three or so Copies of the Book of Mormon. we later met a less active girl who had crashed her car just before we found her so that was funny because we had a good lesson with her outside by her car and we have a return appointment! Then while knocking a door we got the quote of the week so here is the scene, we knock the door, dogs start barking and a kid maybe 10 looks through the blinds and then turns and Yells, "Dad some people are here GET YOUR PANTS ON." If I wasn't a missionary I would have lost it but I kept myself mostly composed. So that was a crazy thing, you don't hear that every day.
Friday we did weekly planning and it was awesome and we got it done in three hours and then we got to teach this random lady named Herminda we had a return appointment with a guy named George and when we go to the house Herminda answers and says No sorry there is NO GEORGE that lives here and either her husband lied or she did so we were confused but she let us teach her and we will have to try back. We then went and helped out at silent auction for a member who needs a small intestine transplant.
Saturday we played basketball and then set up for a wedding of a part member family and it was good I have decorating skills and it was fun the relief society was impressed #MOM&SISTERS ya so that was great and that basically consumed everything but we got food out of it so that was good oh actually the pants thing might take second place because we went to go get tortas after setting up for the wedding and the waiter took our order and went into the Kitchen then he came back and was like sorry there is no bread, so no Tortas, and the member was like okay get these elders two plates of carne asada, and he went back and he came back and was like okay sorry there is no rice and at this point we started laughing and she was like fine get them some tacos and he came out and she was like, don't tell me there are no tortillas but there were so we actually ate there instead of taking our business else where but it was sad for them.
Sunday was AWESOME, okay church is sweet I love the sacrament but what was cool was a part member family invited us over for dinner after church so we went and had dinner with them and started teaching/having a gospel conversation with the boyfriend and he set up for us to go back Friday and have an FHE so that is going to be awesome! We then taught Abel an investigator and invited him to pray with his wife (who wasn't able to join us for the lesson) to see if they should be baptized  so ya it was awesome!
Then we saw Pepe and Eugenia again they are so funny and they were trying to justify saints like they mediate with us and God and I was like well the scriptures say only Christ is our mediator with the father so... ya but we resolved some concerns and it was all around good and parents have been taking the pamphlets that we left in the Daycare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so I'm happy and sad it has been super sweet
Love Elder Draper

Week one done Week two bring it on

April 4, 2016

Dear Family and Friends
Missionary work is crazy! if you have read my letters, served a mission yourself or have talked with one about what they do lately you will discover we are crazy and I am no exception, so why do I do what I do, well you could conclude by my own statements that I am crazy or you could be more logical than me and realize I am not crazy (clinically) but none the less here is the awesome rundown of this past week.
Monday was awesome! We started a new Book of Mormon challenge as a mission. this is almost identical to the one we started when I first came our we are focusing on Jesus Christ his names titles and attributes, then the Doctrine of Christ  and what The Lord says, IE thus saith the Lord "......' so that is going to be awesome so far it is. Well that night we taught the Arviso Family and it was awesome we taught the plan of Salvation and they felt the power of their need as a family to follow God and the husband Xavier isn't a member so he is now praying about baptism, and we should be setting him for a day soon
Tuesday was a blast we did service at the Stuhr Pioneer museum stacking wood for their wood piles and that was fun we got to use a golf cart thingy with a trailer and they let us do that because we stack the wood better than their employees so ya we are neat and organized even in simple wood piles. So we tried hard all day to find people but we did get one short and brief lesson in with person about god being their loving Heavenly Father and we got a return appointment!
Wednesday we had a good day we got a new investigator family they actually live in Kearney but they are staying here in GI since they are working here in GI and their friend who owns the trailer is going to be on a trip for a while so this is a cool miracle for us. We tried super hard all day do contact people but most everything fell through
Thursday we had District meeting and it went all right I could have been more simple in my training but I got nervous so I complicated things more than necessary and I will do much better next time luckily I have a week off with district meeting. Our trainings were on how the Gospel blesses families and simplify the Restoration and also apply it to teach different principles. So that was  awesome. We did splits with the Zone leaders in our area before they had to go to Omaha for MLC (mission leadership council) #NotDLProblem so that was fun but we still didn't teach any lesson even with covering twice the ground. That evening however was awesome! So first we saw an investigator Family Eugenia and Pepe they are Cubans and they are super kind and loving people Elder Davey thought we needed to drop them and the Branch counsel wasn't opposed but I didn't think it was the best idea but we planned that out as our lesson, and so we were establishing our purpose and teaching the restoration and as we got to the great apostasy their was a disconnect in their minds and I said somethings simple super simple but super key, "their must be twelve living apostles in Christ's church" and they were like Huh?!? and I repeated it and they were slowly grasping it and then we opened their scriptures and showed them in their own bible where they called Matthias to be the thirteenth apostle and who Christ's church was built on the foundation of living apostles and prophets and evangelists and so forth and they got it and they realized what we have that they don't have yet and so we set up to go back on Friday. Then we saw the Arviso Family again and they are progressing they read their assigned chapter and Xavier knows he wants to and needs to be baptized and we doesn't know what day but we are going to set him again and then we taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and they are starting to grasp how they will be blessed as a family and it was awesome two fantastic lessons back to back.
Friday we went back and had a sweet follow up lesson with Eugenia and Pepe Gonzales and we showed them how to find GC so they could watch the Saturday morning session in their home and that was sweet then we set up a brief return appointment for Saturday after the session.
Saturday was awesome the session was tailored to them and Eugenia watched it and loved it and then that night she found the Women's session and watched it!
Sunday they came to the morning session and they again loved it and asked if we could put a copy of the family proclamation up on the wall in her daycare and yes we can just like elder Nelson said just ask the missionaries so they love this Gospel they aren't even baptized but they see how these teachings of modern living apostles and prophets will bless the lives of those they are about

What the Transfers!?!!!

Dear Family and Friends
This was a crazy week for us in Nebraska, for those of you who understand missionary lingo and lifestyle you will understand why, if not that is okay just pretend you do and it'll make sense part way through and if you don't get it period it is okay I can explain, explanation we are crazy. ha ha ha ha hah
Well Monday was a weird day because I went and was emailing and I was like Hi family I will probably be in Lincoln and ya Elder Sharp is going home and I just get to sit tight and watch transfers go by, well not exactly I decide to read President Gardner's email and it is like, thanks for helping Elder Sharp stay focused till the end oh and by the way make sure everything is updated in your area book I have some last minute changes I decided to make to transfers and I was like Oh no Oh no oh NO! changes transfers, we're getting white washed! So I start freaking out the rest of the day but we still party and I am like buy milk and get transferred not buy milk and have money to buy milk next week????? not buy milk I am getting transferred so that is what went through my head on Monday
Then Tuesday I was like well I should follow the normal schedule until I am notified to start packing and well I was like, "oh study time I Love you and I love my scriptures and Oh cool thing mark that and Oh ya that is a good Idea maybe I should write that somewhere,... Oh what is that weird noise coming from our phone it is study time our phone doesn't make noise during study time oh wait that is President Gardner's Ring tone," so ya that was my thought process more less and Elder Sharp answers and President Gardner is like I can't wait to see you tomorrow for our interview and then He was like give me to Elder Draper and I was like, "uh oh, I don't get phone calls from President this doesn't happen to me, I didn't do anything." Hello Elder Draper can I give you a new assignment? "of Course president (What is he talking about, I'm not training, what is he talking about?!)" I would like you to be a district leader in Grand Island can you fulfill that assignment for me? "ya of course president (Huh? District leader GI😕)" I am expecting great things.... so I was like huh that isn't normal and Elder Sharp was like and you thought you were off the hook, and I was like "(you set me up you told him to make me a District leader didn't you?!😒)" but it was good, we went to lunch as a break from packing with our Zone leader Elder Powell, Elder Smith was made and AP so ya that was crazy and I got to see my District and it is all sisters, Wooooo I have a 'Sis'trict  which should be sweet, all I have to do is baptismal interviews solve problems, be a friend present training's and inspire them and do one exchange with the Zone leaders, other than that I am off the hook! So that will be fun.
Wednesday we had the actual transfer thing we sent Elder Sharp up to Omaha super early in the Morning then I got to hang out for anther hour or so and I got loaded on the transfer van and we got on our way. Well partway through the trip the APs got a call saying um well we just sent Jensen to Lincoln we didn't realize he had to be in Omaha this morning and they were like What! so long story Short Elder Jensen (the Spanish Elder I came out with) was supposed to go to Omaha Tuesday night to be able to get to Sioux city by the afternoon, but they didn't realize that till later so they sent them towards Omaha and the APs said tell them to stop in Lincoln and we'll just pick them up on our way back to Omaha so they turned to me and said well looks like you get to have a nice car trip. So I went out to Grand Island and then back to Lincoln then I got with Elder Davey got our Car and Drove all the way back to Grand Island! So I spent about 4.5 to 5 hours in the car on Wednesday munching on Easter treats and drinking my Aloe Vera drink. We did service for the Abshers the family we are living with and then we tried to find some people and I unpacked a smidge
Thursday I finished unpacking and we tried people but it was just a crazy odd off day with having me new and Davey who is brand new still kind of going Uhhh who should we see um this person but it was still a good day. We also had some phone issues and some missionaries were texting us saying we are in your district so can you do a baptismal interview this day? and I was like huh? I have the York sisters and the YSA sisters but I don't have the North Platte missionaries, well come to find out somebody decided to play number swapperoo on me and it was the YSA sisters after all so it worked out.
Friday we did a super long weekly planning to introduce me to the area but ya then we got to teach a lesson to  a part member family which was sweet!
Saturday was a little more productive we got some good lessons in and we committed people to come to church since it was Easter and that is a good reason to come. In the Morning we also played basketball at the church with some members and their non member friends and the sister missionaries were there and one of them was like I am going to make my dream team and I got picked (ha😅 it was funny me part of a dream team which was funny because we actually won two games in a row) then we did service at the Grand Theater for their free matinée  and that was fun I learned how to run a cash register
Sunday I wrote my talk for sacrament meeting and no I did not procrastinate I was just busy before but I got it done! we had a sweet branch council meeting both Brother Leal and Presidente Rubio speak English so anything we can't explain perfectly in Spanish they can ask us clarifying questions in English. and then we had some appointments and then had Easter Dinner with the Leal family and they are sweet
           That is my weekly report.
He is risen #Hallelujah!

The Beginning The Middle and The End

Dear Family and Friends
This week is the Beginning the middle and the End of Crazy, or it was just CRAZY. so I have been in Denial all this time of the fact that it was Elder Sharp's last week but it finally has hit us and we have been going slightly crazy, I have felt trunkiness in the air but I have been good.
Monday we had some good success planned we had the entire night booked we went to our first appointment and that was sweet it was with a less active sister we had a good lesson and committed her to come to church. On our way to our next appointment we texted to confirm and he said oh I am out of town for two weeks sorry guys so we called a less active sister who we have had some contact with through her work and us doing service (the center for people in need) and then she answered and said I am going to Ivana cone (an ice cream shop) meet us there so we did and we had a good visit with her and her husband and kids then we went all the way on the north side of town to our next appointment and we knocked and there was no answer and as we were leaving we saw the guy get out of his truck and he was like sorry guys another day so we tried our backup and that was a flop then we went back to the same apartments to try his neighbor and he was still out working so it started good and went bad.
Tuesday was a sweet day and we got lots of Good lessons in. We saw the Orozco Family and that was good we discovered that she didn't come to church because she accidentally got a hold of the singles ward's Bishop's wife and got a ride from her and so that was funny but she is also related to one of our other less actives that lives here in Lincoln so with that family moving in we have a cool connection that hopefully we can use to get things going. We saw our member who has quit smoking and he is doing super well except for the fact that he got sick but he is clean many weeks without smoking a cigarette  we did some service for the center for people in Need that was good we got to see some Hispanics and be the Bad guys and enforce the rules so that was fun we also saw a new investigator whose family I know in Crete so that was cool and then we rushed off to meet up with President Mellor of the Elders Quorum to go see the Quirino Family and then we did splits while they went and tried to see Hermano Ceballos and I went to see an investigator the Sisters handed to us since he is a single guy and it was a good lesson. He wants to take investigating the church seriously and the only bad thing about our lesson was he got mad about how I was being to sales pitchy I didn't use enough scriptures because that wasn't how the sisters had taught him so we were like okay so he asked a question and I pulled out my scriptures and said read this and it answered his question and I was like ha see I can do it too, but it was funny.
Wednesday  was sweet we got three lessons in. We were trying to work with our less actives to see if we couldn't get them to church. Luis Escribano has a good desire to come to church his heart has changed a lot but he just hasn't followed through yet then we saw this Jose Antonio guy who is on the lists from the church, he isn't a member but his wife is and as we started sharing the restoration with him he asked so why was Joseph Smith a polygamist and I was like well I don't know, do you know why Abraham was a polygamist? and we didn't have an answer so said well the reason why is God said so. So I thought that was funny. We then saw Eduardo and taught him about Faith and how he can apply it to receive help from God and we committed him to come to church.
Thursday was our district meeting and exchanges in Crete so that was fun we didn't get any lessons in but we did try so that was fun.
Friday we saw Maria Ninninger and that was good we had a good lesson with her and she has lots of trust issues so we are hoping to drop her and have missionaries go back when the Spanish group is stronger and they can get more team ups. from the Spanish sisters/families.
Saturday we just saw Marvin Florez our day was alright we had no set appointments so that was sad We had dinner with the Olivers so that was a good highlight of our day
Sunday was Spanish Sacrament we had a good turn out of about  seven members and two investigators from Crete so that was super sweet we should have had nine though but we were still close we got a call from an investigator named Miguel who we had kind of dropped since he didn't confirm our appointment saying can you come over today? So we got to go see him and he is set for the 23 of April now and I think he might make the date Elder Sharp did some organizing of his stuff  and that was our week so he heads off Thursday but I say by Tuesday
       Adios that is my week,
Elder Draper

Exito and Spring

This week has been fantastic and I think things are awesome!
It may just be the weather but things seem to be picking back up.  Monday we had fantastic weather and we drove with the windows down all day we played Chair soccer which is everyone has a chair and that is their goal and the point of the game is to hit everyone else's chair with the soccer-ball and once you have done that then they sit down and are out and the goal is to be the last one standing but if the person who got you out gets out then you are back in, I didn't win but I did come very close by knocking everyone down but one elder and he got me so the game didn't end. We visited with the Quirino Family and that was good we had a good lesson with them and kind o helped them to know how to set some goals so they can keep progressing and it is self motivated and driven so that was good their boys Leo an Kriss are so cute and funny they love to come and interrupt and be involved in everything their parents are  doing.
Tuesday was fun we had exchanges with the Zone leaders so we got to do some double teaming their area. I was with Elder Powell the highlight of that would be having found a less active member who lives in the middle of nowhere tell us I like the church but it just isn't compatible with my lifestyle right now and I asked him what his lifestyle was and he said some things and because I have been becoming accustomed to being bold or osado as we were told to be at Spanish conference I said almost out of reflex "well that's stupid especially since you know those aren't good for you," and he said but I like it and I responded, "well that is because you're addicted and that is why you like those things," and he was like no I just like it and I said, "well it is psychology you can't do those things and not be addicted and I was like come on man" and I was smiling and laughing, not being rude and he just stood there for a moment and he was stunned that I would be so bold and finally he responded muttering, "well she lets me," signalling to his wife and I looked at him with the Really?? look and his wife then turned and gave him the same look and we said our goodbyes and that was that he was left to feel like a fool for arguing that some of his behaviors were fine and even his wife knew they weren't good so I think he'll turn around here soon.
Wednesday we had a good lesson with a less active Luis Escribano and it was cool because his wife who doesn't speak Spanish sat in and so we are going to have to work on our Spanglish teaching skills for next time. we taught this guy named John we knocked into on his doorstep and it was funny because we had a team up and he stepped out and there were three guys dressed up on his door step I think he was waiting for us to say we were the police but we aren't
Thursday was sweet we had a day long team-up with Joseph Carlson to let him see what we do all day he is a senior and it was his spring break and he didn't want to have dinner with the sister missionaries (they were mean and scary or something they are high energy and Joseph is mellow) we did studies and then he went to track practice and we had district meeting and then we had lunch at honest Abe's which was decent and because there were so many of us including our zone leaders they gave us the conference room so that was cool. we did splits in the evening and I was able to teach Maria Ninninger with brother Beck and it was a good lesson we solidly committed her to coming to church and she has stopped progressing so we might have to drop her then we had a fast lesson with Norberto and Brother Beck set him for the 9th of April so that was sweet! and after the lesson Brother Beck said that of all the Missionaries that I am for sure one of the best teachers he has been with on splits that it is easy to follow my lead and see where I am taking the lesson and that I keep things on point and sincere and down to earth for the investigators so that made my day and maybe even my week except my week just got better than having my ward mission leader say he like my teaching.
Friday we taught the Camarena family and that was and adventure because it took us an hour to find their new apartment  but we had a good lesson and they are such a good family they are just going through lots of struggles. We had a dinner appointment that fell through at the last minute and we just skipped dinner and went to try people and we were knocking and we knocked the first door and the man said come back Monday at 7 I am eating then we knocked the next door the guy was freaked out two white boys in dress clothes and he said we could come back Monday at 8 then we knocked the next door and this lady named Jessi answered and let us in and we came in and there was a former potential named Sandra sitting on the couch with her boyfriend we sat down and started talking and they thought we were the JW and were like nope not us we use the normal bible and they were like oh well who are you and we explained things but we started sharing the restoration and really got a good focus on families and come to find our Jessi and Sandra are sisters and the man who was confused  who said to come back at 8 is her husband so we are already set with a return appointment! and that was sweet
Saturday we got in with three people which seems to be our highest amount a day this week but it was good we saw the Orozco family and we had a sweet restoration lesson and brought them to  a remembrance of their former spirituality and the need they have to turn to God and Find peace and so we hope to get them coming to church regularly and maybe even handing them over to the YSA ward We saw Martin Serbin his whole family is JW and he was scared to have us come back and he was praying in his heart asking God to show him what he wanted him to do and he stepped outside to smoke and at that same time we showed up and that had not been our plan he cancelled for 4 and so we planned to go at 6 but we went at 5 because that is just the way it worked out and we were sent there at the exact moment by God and he knows it and we know it and it was sweet then we saw Wilfredo and we had to drop him because he wanted to bible bash and that was no fun so we said read this chapter in the book of Mormon pray about it and if you want to keep visiting  with us you need to call us.
Sunday was great but Elder Sharp didn't feel well so that was the end of our week
Lots of miracle and people are accepting the invitations to come to Christ #Hallelujah!

#Hallelujah

Wow crazy things
Monday we did another tour of the Stadium (Memorial stadium) that was amusing not much new stuff basically they have put tons of money into this college football team and it isn't as good as it should be. We taught a guy named Benito and we had a good lesson but then he interrupted us saying, I don't want to learn this new stuff I haven't been learning anything from the catholic church but I want you guys to teach me from the bible but not anything new. and he also said he couldn't change and I looked at him in the eyes and said do you believe in Jesus Christ, do you believe in God then don't you dare blaspheme his atonement by saying I can't humble yourself and realize you can do all things through him! He was taken back and tried to mutter and toss excuses out like well I can't not be catholic my girlfriend and I are catholic and my family is catholic and......... so then we wrapped up our lesson and we are giving him one last shot
Tuesday we had Elder Royal with us he is super cool the ZLs are "babysitting him" is one way you can say it but basically something happened in his last area and he got put with the ZLs because of stuff but he is a super good worker and he was on top of things too. I think he is a sweet Elder. we did service at the center for people in need this is also the day I got sick and I moved 2-3 pallets of boxes by hand and I was exhausted after that we watched a security guard take down a worker who hit him because he wasn't paying attention to her (smacked him across the head, and he is a former Marine). that was funny because it led into a discussion of language (the security guard started speaking Spanish and we started talking to him) and then we got to explain a little of what we do as missionaries after we went and had Dinner our appointments cancelled except Wilfredo so we went and saw him and it was a decent lesson but we are probably dropping him soon if not this week.
Wednesday was pretty good we saw our member who has quit smoking and we are helping him to learn more about the Book of Mormon and it is going well he is progressing! we also did service at the people city mission that was good we had fun organizing stuff and keeping them running we had dinner with the Carlsons and that was fun we gave a present to their son who turned 12 of a minion pillow case and minion peeps and he loved it and then we took Joseph (the 18 year old) on a team up and we had a good lesson with Norberto Malagon and we are hoping to see him soon He was supposed to come to church but he didn't make it.
Thursday we had everything blow up in our faces pretty much. We did have a good zone training though we learned about the new Easter initiative and it is going to be sweet (apparently) the cards look super cool probably the coolest they have ever been so ya #Hallelujah for this year. We did get to see one less active Marvin Florez and that was good we talked for a bit and basically it turns into his vent session while we try to share gospel principles with him and ya it was not super effective but we are hoping to get better.
Friday we did weekly planning and that was good we had a ward party which actually (not including the missionaries) was a high priest social with families so ya it was crazy and sad we had four families show up we also had all of our appointments cancel
Saturday we actually got to see people but we only got two less active lessons we had some good contact though with people we also dropped into a less actives yard sale and I bought Sunday shoes for 5 dollars which will save me since one of my pair is falling apart
Sunday was Super weird we had five less active sisters show up with one active so six sisters and no brothers just us we were like WHAT?! all the priesthood just evaporated or something?! so we are going to be doing some real pushing this week to see if we can't for once have the full Spanish group there in attendance we also saw Maria Ninninger and that was good we called her to repentance for not praying and she is so confused because she is "Catholic" ha well then the Mormon's come over and they come prepared to answer her questions as if they are inspired of God 😇 ya well that was fun she will figure it out soon.
and that was my week in a nut shell and I hope you enjoy my rambling
